So, you think the North Thurston Biopedia is just way too cool, and you want your friends and relatives to see your superb photograph(s)
immortalized in the annals of the Biopedia too! Just how do you go about this process...? I'm glad you asked!
REQUIREMENTS: First off, you need to be a student, staff, or faculty at North Thurston HS. Second, the photo has to be
taken on the North Thurston High School campus. Student pictures have precedence, so if a student takes a picture of an organism
already photographed by staff or faculty, then the student photo supercedes the staff/faculty photo. However, if two students take
photos of the same critter, then the first photo submitted with complete information will be used in the Biopedia.
FORMAT: So, what exactly do I have to submit? You need to submit the image(s) from your camera/phone/device via email
or flash drive to either Mr. Hall or one of the members of the Science Club. Don't
crop or adjust the photo(s) at all; we'll take care of that. Just give us the full size raw image(s). It's not a bad idea to take more
than one image, and we'll be happy to look through what you took and find the best one. You also need to include the name of the
photographer, the date the photo was taken, and the location of the specimen photographed. While you can give a detailed description
of where the photo was taken, the easiest way to give us the location is to use "the map" listed in the menu toward the top left.
Special note for plant photos: Currently, we're just adding pictures of trees and shrubs. Down the line, we'll probably
open it up to ALL plants. As for what we need for the Biopedia...at the minimum, we need a picture of the whole plant (tree/bush/whatever)
AND a picture of a single leaf (or piece of branch showing clumps of needles). Please see the existing plant pictures in the Biopedia
to help guide you. Preferably, we'd like a picture of the seeds/cone/fruit and flower (for Angiosperms) as well. If someone else took
photos of just the leaf and whole plant, and you want to add flower/seed photos, that's fine also!!

LOCATION: If you click on the "Map" entry in the menu to the left, a page will be opened in GoogleMaps similar to the image
shown above. Simply left click and drag your mouse to "grab" the map and move it around until you can see where on the campus you took
your photograph. After you find where you took your photo, right click exactly where the photo was taken, and then click on "What's here?"
in the drop down menu. A set of coordinates will show up in the box next to the magnifying glass icon. They should be similar to:
"47.051671,-122.832052". Copy and paste those coordinates into your email or write them down and give them to Mr. Hall or a Science Club
member. Good hunting!
